Masjid Al-Nabawi (Mosque of the Prophet)

Al-Masjid An-Nabawī also called the Prophet’s Mosque, is a historic mosque originally established and built by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) situated in the city of Madina. Al-Masjid An-Nabawi was the second mosque built, first being the Quba Mosque, in the history of Islam and is now one of the largest mosques in the world.

The Prophet’s Mosque is the second-holiest site in Islam, after the Great Mosque of Mecca. It is always open, regardless of date or time. The mosque is under the control of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The mosque is located in what was traditionally the center of Madina, with many hotels and old markets nearby. It is a major pilgrimage site.

Many pilgrims who perform the Hajj go on to Madina to visit the mosque, due to its connection to Muhammad. One of the most notable features of the site is the green dome over the centre of the mosque, where the tomb of Prophet Muhammad and early Islamic leaders Abu Bakr and Umar are located.

Jannat al-Baqi’

The Jannatul Baqi’ graveyard is located on the eastern flank of the Prophet’s Mosque and covers some 170,000 square meters of area. According to Islamic Tradition, more than ten thousand companions of Prophet Muhammad are buried here. Some of the graves are that of Fatima bint Muhammad, Imam Hassan ibn ‘Ali, Zain ul-‘Abideen, Imam Baqir, Imam Jaffar Sadiq. Many traditions relate Muhammad issuing a prayer every time he passed it. Although originally it was located on the outskirts of the city of Medina, today it is an integral part but separate of the mosque complex.

Rawdah Riyad ul-Jannah

The Rawdah ul-Jannah (Garden of Paradise), also spelled as the Riaz ul-Jannah, is the oldest and most important part which is situated at the heart of Masjid al-Nabawi. It extends from Muhammad’s tomb (Rawdah) to his pulpit (minbar). Ridwan means “pleased”. In Islamic tradition, Ridwan is the name of an angel in charge of maintaining Jannah. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that Muhammad said, “The area between my house and my minbar is one of the gardens of Paradise, and my minbar is on my cistern (hawd)”, hence the name.

Quba Mosque

According to Islamic history, it is said that Masjid Quba was the place where our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stayed and performed Salah (prayer) on the first night after arriving in Madinah. Later, Allah’s SWT Messenger (PBUH) constructed the Quba Mosque on that exact spot and is considered as first mosque in Islam.
Quba Mosque is located in the southern part of Madinah, on the sub-route of Hijra. It is around 3.8 km far from the Prophet’s Mosque, and it receives Muslim visitors 24/7.

Wadi-e Jinn

(Wadi means a Valley) Wadi al-Baida, locally known as Wadi al-Jinn, is a valley and an anti-gravity hill in al-Baida Park located approximately 30 kilometres northwest of Medina in the Medina Province of Saudi Arabia

This is a mysterious natural landscape in Saudi Arabia, which attracts the attention of tourist attractions in the region. The site is famous for its unique valley topography and undercurrents.

Masjid Fatah is also known as Masjid Ahzab and Masjid A’la

The following Seven mosques mark the spot where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his beloved companions stood to guard the Muslims during the Battle of Khandaq (Battle of Trench).

Even though originally, there were seven masjids in this complex, today, the actual number of mosques is six. Despite this, the small historical complex is still referred to as the seven mosques. It is a popular place for Ziyarat and is visited by millions of Muslims every year.

Arranged according to their location, from north to south, these mosques are as follows: Al-Fateh Mosque, Salman Al-Farisi Mosque, Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque, Umar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque, Ali Ibn Abi Talib Mosque and Fatimah Az-Zahra Mosque.

Dar Al Madinah Museum

The Dar Al Madinah museum is located in the Knowledge Economic City. It is a purpose built museum that showcases the history of The Blessed City of Madinah. The first and biggest museum that specialized in the history of Al Madinah and its deep heritage. The museum highlights the history of the city of our beloved prophet, peace be upon him, as well as its valuable heritage and great ancient civilization. The museum displays big collection of hand built models that shows you simulation of the actual old landmarks of the city as well as a big collection of rear pieces and rear shoots of the city and its history.

It has many exhibits that show how the city expanded from the time of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah Be upon Him) to the current time. It also contains rare manuscripts and a variety of model representations. It is definitely worth a visit if you are looking to be inspired about the amazing history of the city of Madinah. Tours are available in English, Urdu and Arabic. The entrance fee is about 25 SAR.

 

The International Fair and Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilization.

The International Fair and Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilization is located opposite Al Masjid an Nabawi and adjacent to the “The Prophet’s Mosque” Expansion Project Museum. It is a scientific edifice dedicated to displaying everything related to Islam. It consists of a spacious area and includes a valuable collection of exhibits, material holdings, approximate models, pictures and educational videos that illustrate the path of the Prophet’s migration, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, the sites he passed through and the events That accompanied this great event, in addition to the interpretation of the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the presentation of the stages of construction and expansion of the Great Mosque of Mecca and others.

Masjid Shuhada Uhud – Madinah

Masjid Shuhada Uhud is a famous mosque located just a 10-minute drive from Al Masjid Nabawi in Medina. The Mosque is considered a vital historic landmark by Muslims as this is where a very major battle in Islam, the battle of Uhud, took place. Followers of The Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) who fought with him in the battle of Uhud are buried beside the mosque. Among them is Hazrat Ḥamzahibn Abd al-Muṭṭalib, who was a companion and a dear uncle of the Prophet. He is buried near Mount Uhud in the Uhad Martyrs Cemetery.

Pilgrims come to pay their respects to the martyrs, especially during the month of Ramadan. Standing at the famous Archer’s hill, Muslims experience a spiritual awakening and can go back in time, imagining the battle happening in front of them.

A blend of traditional and modern architecture, Masjid Shuhada Uhud is the largest mosque in the city after Masjid an Nabawi. It can hold up to 15,000 worshippers at a time. At night, the white mosque seems to be emanating light from its alabaster structure. Seven smaller mosques are also located in the vicinity.

The mosque has an administrative block that has wudhu stations installed for the pilgrims with special facilities for people with disabilities. There is a small market near the mosque which is famous for its carpets and dates. People visiting the mosque should try the fresh dates that are sold at a cheaper price after Asar Prayer.

Ethiq Well in Madinah or Azaq Well

Ethiq Well is the place where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Abu (RA) sat for a while and drank water when he visited Madina for the first time after Hijrah and took some rest in the garden nearby Ethiq Well.

Masjid Al-Qiblatayn

Masjid Al Qiblatayn is situated in The Blessed City of Madinah and is one of the most important mosques in Islamic history. Masjid Al Qiblatayn translates to Mosque of the two Qiblas and is believed to be the Mosque where The Blessed Prophet (Peace and Blessings Be upon Him) turned towards the Kaaba while leading the Dhuhr prayer and the companions followed suit out of obedience and respect. The Prophet (PBUH) later explained that he had received revelation from Allah to change the Qibla (direction of prayer) from Temple Mount in Jerusalem to Kaaba in Makkah.

The Mosque now only has one Mehrab that faces Kaaba although you can see the direction to Jerusalem marked in the ceiling architecture. Every year hundreds of thousands of Muslims from all over the world come to visit this historic mosque and other nearby attractions including Jannatul Baqi, Masjid Quba, and Mount Uhud – Archers’ Hill.

Garden of Hazrat Salman Farsi (RA)

The Garden of Salman Al Farsi is a beautiful historic site in the Blessed City of Madinah which, contains 300 date palms which were planted by The Blessed Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah Be Upon Him) himself to free his companion Salman Al Farsi (RA). The garden also contains a well with beautifully fresh sweet water which you can taste. You can visit the garden, taste the water and buy dates from this blessed garden. It is also located a few minutes away from both the Ghars Well and Ethiq well.

This ancient site in the holy city of Madina is around 300 miles from Jeddah. Moreover the garden is located at a distance of around 5.5 miles from Masjid e Nabawi.

 

Mount Badr

Badr is a town in Al Madinah Province, Al-Hijaz, Saudi Arabia. It is located about 150 km from the Islamic holy city of Medina and about 350 Km from Makkah. It was the location of the Battle of Badr, between the Quraishi-led polytheists, and the Muslims under the leadership of Muhammad, in 624 CE.

The battle of Badr was the most important and the first major battle the Muslims fought on Friday 17th Ramadhan 2 AH, 624 AD. Muslim army which numbered around 313, faced an army of 1,000 of the Quraysh. Through the help of Allah, the Muslims emerged victorious.

Mount Uhud

Mount Uhud is a mountain north of Medina, in the Hejazi region of Saudi Arabia. It is 1,077 m (3,533 ft) high and 7.5 km (4.7 mi) long.

Mount Uhud is very sacred as Prophet Muhammad PBUH used to love this Mount so much and said Uhud is mine and I AM Uhud’s. At the time of Qayamah Allah will raise Uhud along with Kababh to heavens. This is why we call Uhud a Mount of Jannah.

Mount Uhud is the place where the second most important battle between the non-believers of Makkah and the Muslims (Muhajireen and Ansar) of Madinah took place. It is on one the three battles of Islam. The first battle is called The Battle of Badr. The second battle is called The Battle of Uhud. The last battle is called The Battle of Trench. (The battle of Trench is also called as the Battle of Khandaq, the Battle of Ditch, The Battle of Ahzab, and the Battle of the Confederates)

In the battle of Mount Uhud, Muslims in the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) army defended themselves against the raiding Quraish army. The Muslims had an initial edge under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). However, they lost to the enemy for leaving their posts and celebrating the victory too early.
